West Isle Urgent Care is an adult and pediatric urgent care center that provides high quality, convenient, time-efficient medical care for all non life or limb-threatening injuries and illnesses. We provide urgent care to adults and children on a walk-in / no appointment basis 365 days a year.

 

Urgent Care or Emergency Room?

Urgent care is a convenient, walk-in care service for a variety of minor injuries and illnesses such as respiratory illnesses, sprains and fractures, sore throats, ear and skin infections.
Any accident or illness that may lead to loss of life or limb, serious medical complications or permanent disability or if pregnant >20 weeks should be evaluated in the emergency department of a local hospital.

 


Examples of conditions that are commonly evaluated in an urgent care center include:  (this is not a complete list):

  •  Poison ivy
  •  Minor skin infections and burns/abscess/cellulitis
  •  Laceration repair and wound care
  •  Fractures and athletic injuries, including hand injuries

       –   Influenza
       –   Pneumonia  
  •  Gynecologic and genitourinary problems

Examples of conditions that should be evaluated in the ER include: (this is not a complete list)

    •  Chest pain or pressure
  •  Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  •  Sudden dizziness, weakness or loss of coordination or balance
  •  Numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg
  •  Difficulty speaking
  •  Sudden blurred vision
  •  Loss of consciousness
  •  Severe abdominal pain
  •  Sudden, severe headache
  •  Seizures
  •  Coughing up or vomiting blood
  •  Severe burns
  •  Deep cuts or bleeding that won't stop
  •  Fractures with bone showing
  •  Overdoses
  •  Rectal bleeding
  •  Inability to urinate
  •  Palpitations
  •  Depression
  •  Sexual assault
  •  Altered mental status
